San Diego Wave to retire No. 13 Jersey in honor of Alex Morgan

Alex Morgan celebrates her last time on the pitch in San Diego Photo courtesy of San Diego Wave The San Diego Wave F tbol Club has communicated that it will officially retire Alex Morgan s No jersey Morgan is the first Wave FC participant to receive this honor She is one of the greater part celebrated players in U S Women s National Club history according to a release from the association Since Morgan s debut in she earned caps and scored goals ranking fifth all-time among USWNT players She has also represented the United States at four FIFA Women s World Cups winning titles in and and competed in three Olympic Games earning a gold medal in and a bronze in Alex s legacy goes far beyond goals and accolades She helped lay the foundation for this Club and elevated the standard for what women s soccer is in the modern day Lauren Leichtman the NWSL Governor of San Diego Wave FC reported in a message She made this city her home inspired our fans and region and helped define who we are Her impact will be felt for generations and it s only fitting that her number becomes a permanent part of Wave FC history The Morgan jersey retirement ceremony will be held on Sunday Sept at Snapdragon Stadium Tickets to the general society go on sale at p m Tuesday According to the gang fans who wish to attend can also purchase a San Diegoat Mini Plan which includes a ticket to the Sept match as well as Aug and Oct games Additional details will be declared at a later date
